1. Cooling Mattresses (Passive)
A typical "cooling mattress" or a foam bed with "cooling gel" offers only passive cooling.
- They rely on materials like copper, phase-change materials, or gel-infused foams to absorb and wick away the heat you generate.
- They can feel cool for the first hour, but once they absorb your body heat, they become heat reservoirs and stop cooling.
- They cannot cool below room temperature and cannot actively heat your surface—they are limited by the air around you.
